Mr. S.Charles Selvaraj – Managing Director & CEO
He is the Managing Director & CEO of the Company. He is a qualified finance professional with around 33 years of solid experience (in India for about 7 years and in Abroad such as UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia for around 26 years in big Companies as Group Finance Director and as an Advisor to the Board. He has travelled to more than 14 countries and has a very vast banking knowledge.
Mr. P.Stephen – General Manager
He has worked with different NGOs from field operations to Managerial Level. He is having experience in the field of integrated Community Development, Poverty Alleviation programmes and Microfinance for the past 30 years. Ø Worked in World Vision India as Project Coordinator & Programme Cordinator Ø Impact Chennai as Accountant for MFI Services Ø Impact Chennai as Coordinator for MFI Services
Mr. C.Baratha Krishnan – Head of Admin
He served with Tamilnad Mercantile Bank for 36 years in the capacities of Branch Manager and in Audit team. He has experience in lending to SHGs/JLGs. Ø In Tamilnad Mercantile Bank, worked as inspector & Promoted as Chief Manager in Inspection Department Ø Very good in Auditing and Control procedures.
Mr. R.Kanagavel – Head of Audit & Risk
He was associated with Samasta Microfinance Private Limited, an IIFL group of company, as General Manager of Administration. He was instrumental in opening up business locations in 7 states with 250 branches, which in turn had a 250 Cr as Asset Under Management.
He is also a retired senior banker who has held various positions including branch banking, retail branch operations, credit, corporate banking and specialized in priority lending. His extensive experience in microfinance operations specifically in Self-Help Groups (SHG) & Joint Liability Group (JLG) and women’s entrepreneurial skill development comes as a value addition to our Company.
Strategy
Virutcham’s growth strategy envisages having a cumulative customer base of about 1.00 million by 2023. The company started its operations in the city of Mugalivakam in Chennai. Since then it has expanded its operations by entering into 13 districts in Tamilnadu and 2 districts in Kerala. Virutcham has opened 11 Branches in the State of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Plans to enter across India in the next few years.
Virutcham’s geographical expansion strategy would be based on semi-urban and rural regions with limited market penetration by NBFC-MFI’s. Virutcham also focuses from product centric to customer centric. In these markets Virutcham will have “One Stop Financial Shops,” lending various financial products.
Uniqueness of VML
The Company operates and renders its services to customers who reside up to 15 km radius of a branch. Branches are headed by Branch Manager (BM) who supervises 5 Field Officers (FO) and a Credit Officer (CO) under him. FO’s are the front line employees and deal directly with clients; they identify, acquire and retain customers to carry on the business. They collect all the required customer information like demographic / social / business and loan related information. The Credit Officer who functionally report to the Area Audit Manager will complete the field verification process off every single member, verify the KYC documents and validate the approval. Further the BM scrutinizes the application form understands the purpose of loan, repaying capacity and upon being satisfied will recommend and forward the Centre file to centralized operations to proceed with the process of loan sanction and data entry. The branches reports to the Head Office.
